Wrestlemania XXIV (24) Speculations
MY WRESTLEMANIA 24 REVIEW IS UP!
Monday Night Raw ABRIDGED is on break while I kind of build the motivation to do it again. I might put out the occasional one, but I am not ending the column, its just on hold and going to be irregular in updates for awhile.
However, it is that time of the year again, where RJ45 speculates what the matches will be at Wrestlemania! This year, it is a hell of a lot clearer as to what is going to go down this year than it was last year.
THIS IS SPECULATION AND SHOULD NOT BE CONSTRUED AS THE ACTUAL CARD OR EVEN THE RUMORED CARD!
WOMAN’S TITLE: Beth Phoenix (Champion) vs. Candice Michelle (Challenger) - Beth Phoenix has been champion for months. She put Candice out of commission. Candice has been on a hot streak as of late. I don’t see any other way, personally.
UNITED STATES TITLE: MVP (Champion) vs. Matt Hardy (Challenger) - This contest has been almost a year in the making now, but keeps getting delayed due to injury! So, why not just save it for Mania?
NO HOLDS BARRED: JBL vs. Chris Jericho - I thought I wouldn’t give a damn about this feud, but it has been quite awesome. Then again, you got two brilliant mic workers. One great brawler and one of the all-time great technical wrestlers. The few minutes they had at Rumble showed a lot of promise for an all out bloody brawl between these two.
MONEY IN THE BANK IV: Jeff Hardy (RAW) vs. Umaga (RAW) vs. Lashley (RAW) vs. Rey Mysterio (SmackDown) vs. Hornswoggle (SmackDown) vs. Finlay (SmackDown) vs. John Morrison (ECW) vs. The Miz (ECW) - Okay, my speculation on this is probably going to change 100 times between now and when the participants are officially announced. However, Lashley is returning. Jeff Hardy is on top. They’ll want to do something with Hornswoggle, which will also involve Finlay. Mysterio needs a big match. Morrison & Miz have been top contenders on ECW, and Umaga has been floundering for awhile but they still like using him in big matches. So, there ya go!
CAREER THREATENING MATCH: Ric Flair vs. Randy Orton - This one may not come true but it seems logical. Orton is the legend killer. Flair must win or retire. No brainer to me.
The Undertaker vs. Great Khali - I am having a hard time deciding what the fuck they’ll do with Undertaker. He needs his yearly Wrestlemania win, and they had a stare down at the Rumble. Undertaker is one of the few that actually bring the best out of Khali. Undertaker seems to rotate between fighting a top star one year and fighting the obligatory big man next year (seriously, look it up).
Shawn Michaels vs. Mister Kennedy - Kennedy needs his classic match. Shawn Michaels has been feuding with Kennedy. Give these guys 25 minutes and give Kennedy the Shawn Michaels bump.
ECW TITLE: Chavo Guerrero (Champion) vs. CM Punk (Challenger) - While I am not too crazy about Chavo being the ECW champ, you can see the intensity that these two bring to the table. Chavo is a good wrestler. Not quite like his Uncle, but he’s still pretty damn good! CM Punk is awesome, so this would probably be a fun match.
WORLD TITLE: Edge (Champion) vs. Batista (Challenger) - This seems like the only logical direction for WWE to go in on the rather directional-less SmackDown. Batista got robbed of the World Title due to endless outside interference, so is maybe a Cage Match seem like a possibility, with Vickie coming to her senses and turning on Edge before its over with? Either way, expect this match to be a Sports Entertainment-fest.
WWE TITLE: John Cena (Champion) vs. Triple H (Challenger) - Yup, Cena is back, and there is no doubt in my mind that he will be champion after No Way Out. Triple H has been on his Championship journey for awhile, so I think its time that Cena return the favor from WM22 to Triple H this year.
KEY WRESTLERS THIS LEAVES OUT: Maria (with the Playboy thing), Mark Henry, Kane, Many Tag Teams, Big Daddy V, and Santino Marella.
